As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with key governance institutions, a WASHNet delegation visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat in Peshawar for an institutional familiarization and knowledge-sharing session.
During the visit, the delegation was given a comprehensive orientation on the structure, functions, and operational mechanisms of the Provincial Assembly. Officials from the Assembly Secretariat briefed participants on the roles and responsibilities of various parliamentary organs, standing committees, administrative sections, and legislative processes that support governance and public oversight in the province.
The visit provided WASHNet members with valuable insights into the functioning of parliamentary institutions and the processes through which legislation, policymaking, oversight, and public accountability are carried out. Participants also gained a deeper understanding of how parliamentary platforms can contribute to advancing sectoral priorities, including water, sanitation, hygiene, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
The engagement served as an important opportunity to strengthen links between WASH sector stakeholders and parliamentary institutions, while promoting greater awareness of governance processes relevant to policy advocacy and sector reforms.
