A follow-up meeting to the recently held workshop on “Strengthening Parliamentary Leadership for Climate-Resilient WASH in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” was convened at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly under the chairmanship of Mr. Asif Khan Mehsud.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Planning & Development Department (P&DD), UNICEF, Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs), and other relevant stakeholders to deliberate on the role of WASHNet in supporting sustainable development priorities within the province.

During the session, participants discussed the importance of strengthening coordination mechanisms within the WASH sector and highlighted WASHNet’s role as a platform for promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, and evidence-based planning. Discussions also focused on the contribution of improved WASH governance towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas related to public health, climate resilience, sanitation, and equitable access to safe water services.
The meeting emphasized the need for continued parliamentary engagement, institutional coordination, and sustained policy support to advance climate-resilient WASH initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Participants appreciated the ongoing collaboration between the KP Assembly, P&DD, UNICEF, and WASHNet in promoting dialogue and strategic action around the WASH sector.
The session concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen future collaboration and integrate WASH priorities more effectively into broader sustainable development discussions and planning processes within the province.
