The Planning & Development Department (P&D) is the central policy, planning, and coordination agency of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It leads provincial development planning, formulates sector strategies, prepares investment portfolios, and coordinates with line departments, donors, and development partners to implement large‑scale programs across social and economic sectors.
While its mandate covers broad development priorities, the department plays a key role in supporting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) efforts through strategic planning, resource allocation, and inter‑department coordination. P&D guides the integration of WASH objectives into provincial development frameworks, ensures alignment with national and international goals, and mobilizes technical and financial support for sustainable service delivery.
As part of strengthening sector coordination and knowledge sharing, the Planning & Development Department has agreed to host and support the WASHNet platform, serving as its institutional home and ensuring linkage with provincial planning systems, data flows, and partner engagement mechanisms.
